How to write a cold email follow-up that does not look automated
A second-touch email that references the first without repeating it, raises the stakes slightly, and offers a clear out.
Step 1 — Identify the gap
What changed since the first email? A new data point? An industry event?
Step 2 — Use the prompt
See below.
Step 3 — Send
3-7 days after touch 1.
COPY-PASTE PROMPT
Write a 4-sentence follow-up email to [NAME] at [COMPANY] in [INDUSTRY]. They did not reply to my first email about [TOPIC].
Follow-up logic:
- 1 sentence: brief reference to the first email (no recap)
- 1 sentence: 1 specific new data point or observation since then
- 1 sentence: re-state the value of replying with one word ("send" or "stop")
- Sign off "Best, [MY NAME]"
No "just checking in" / "hope this finds you well" / "circling back" — those are dead.Want this workflow + 17 more delivered as a custom AI Operating System for YOUR business?
